Support our Mastodon Paleo AIP Kickstarter Campaign

For the next month you will hear us talk a lot about the Kickstarter campaign for our Mastodon Paleo AIP BBQ sauce. I always get excited when writing new recipes, but nothing was more exciting and rewarding than figuring out how to make a non-tomato nightshade free sauce that tastes like authentic BBQ. We’ve already written a lot about our Mastodon blend in other blog posts here and here, but I wanted to take a few moments to dedicate a blog to our just launched Kickstarter campaign.

Our Mastodon sauce takes our mission to a whole new level. I never thought we would be offering a first-to-market Paleo autoimmune protocol (AIP) sauce for a few

reasons. One, I had no idea such a dietary lifestyle existed until I experienced digestive health problems of my own related to gluten. Once I started learning more about the connection between food and health, the universe steered me towards people who had their own challenges- far greater than my own. After meeting my friend Marisa at the Gluten and Allergen Free Expo in Chicago, I learned about the AIP diet. At the time, I had no idea how a non-tomato, non-pepper BBQ sauce could even be created, and still taste good.

Over the last year or so I’ve met more people who follow the AIP diet. That’s how Mitch, our Paleo consultant got involved in KC Natural. We worked together at an ad agency in Kansas City for a year and became close friends. We had a lot in common, including our health-focused lifestyles and desire to purse professional paths that focused on food and health. That’s why it’s really cool that we are working together today to help make BBQ sauce more inclusive to people who have major food restrictions.

I want to be clear, I do not claim to be a health expert or have all the answers when it comes to living the AIP lifestyle. What I know so far is that the AIP community is really passionate about food, and willing to communicate about what they want or would like to see in food products meant for them. That’s why I hope our Kickstarter will be an opportunity for us to improve as a company and make all of our sauces more inclusive, even if they can’t all be AIP friendly. I started KC Natural in my kitchen because I wanted a way to focus and meditate on my health in a way that made me happy. No one on our small team has a million dollars or major connections in the food industry. But we do have a love for food, and kitchens in our homes where we can create recipes our family and friends can enjoy. That’s what I hope you’ll do with our brand new Mastodon Paleo AIP BBQ sauce. And that’s why this Kickstarter is so critical to our ability to connect with the folks who will appreciate this sauce more than anyone. Based on the feedback we’ve received so far, even people who don’t follow specialized diets love this sauce. So please share it with anyone that loves good BBQ.

If you support our Kickstarter campaign and share it with your friends and family, you can be a part of our mission- and success. We believe that we have the opportunity to get the attention of health-focused grocers and distributors across the US (and maybe beyond) with this campaign. Plus, you can enjoy this sauce firsthand and receive some cool swag along with your donation. I can’t wait to post Mastodon recipes submitted by backers who want to share the delicious foods they create with it. Like our other KC Natural sauces, there are a million ways you can enjoy it- beyond traditional BBQ treats.

So please, take a look at our Kickstarter campaign and consider sharing and donating. Either way, thank you for you time and consideration. Hopefully it won’t be long until our Mastodon sauce is available at your favorite grocer.
